Billy Finishes 14th With 8 Points and Has Already Identified 11 External Factors That Were Responsible

Billy finished 14th out of 15 players in the June 26 Double Points Night. He scored 8 points.

He knows what he did wrong. He is not going to tell you that. He is going to tell you what the shuffle did wrong, what the seat assignment did wrong, what the atmosphere did wrong, and what the poker gods did wrong, in that order. Then he is going home to think about it some more and be ready for the next tournament.

NutGas News sat with Billy for 45 minutes following the tournament. The following is a partial transcript of the 11 external factors he identified.

The 11 External Factors, Examined

Factor 1: The Shuffle. “It felt off.” Two other players report the shuffle appeared normal. Billy maintains it was off. Investigation ongoing.

Factor 2: The Seat Draw. “I had position on nobody good.” Not independently verified. Recorded as stated.

Factor 3: The Table Dynamics. “The table dynamics were weird.” Not an evaluable claim. Recorded.

Factor 4: A Specific Hand From Six Weeks Ago. A full house that lost to a better full house. Billy has processed this 0% of the way.

Factor 5: Tim. “Tim was at the table.” True. Tim is usually at the table. Tim winning does not prevent Billy from playing better. Billy appears to know this and has chosen not to apply it.

Factors 6–11: The bounty economy (valid), the Double Points format (valid), the add-on decision (uncertain), the pizza (will not elaborate), a river card in a hand Billy had won in his mind before the river was dealt (“I had it” — he did not), and General Variance (“poker is a game of variance” — the most accurate thing said all evening, delivered as if variance had singled him out personally).

Where Billy Stands

10th in 2026 standings with 179 points. He has had excellent nights this season. He will have more. The external factors are noted. The league moves on.
